Port Development

The Port of Dover is Europe's busiest and most successful ferry port.

The Port of Dover is Europe's busiest and most successful ferry port.Handling around £80 billion of trade each year and supporting around 22,000 jobs locally, the Port is vital to both the national and local economies.

Within a context of significant long term growth forecasts and in order that the Port can continue to fulfil its role, it is essential that adequate additional capacity can be provided when required.

Terminal 2

We have been developing over several years our proposals for a second ferry terminal which provides an unprecedented opportunity to redevelop the port and to kick-start the regeneration of the town.

During this period we have carried out three major consultation exercises, each accompanied by a consultation document in order to provide more detail on the nature of the proposals, the work being undertaken to progress them and key areas of interest or concern.

Our plan for the next generation

Ferry Terminal 2 is an explanatory document which sets out the proposals as they have matured throughout the consultation process and marks the transition to the formal process of seeking approval and the scheme upon which we are making our formal submission.

In support of this, an Environmental Statement has also been submitted.

We wish to thank all those individuals and organisations that have helped, via their contributions to the earlier rounds of consultation, to improve and develop the proposals as now submitted as a formal Harbour Revision Order (HRO).

The HRO documents consist of the formal statutory application plus plans for the proposed development.
