Environmental management and monitoring
The Port of Dover remains one of the world’s busiest ports and continues to expand facilities available to Ro-Ro ships, fast ferries, cargo vessels, cruise ships, private yachts and some private fishing boats.
Dover Harbour Board has been rewarded for its 'green' business practices and has continued in its efforts to reduce its carbon emissions and maintain a good environmental management and monitoring system.
The Environment Office has a responsibility to follow environmental policy and update all environmental plans including the Oil Spill Contingency Plan and Waste Management Plan. The continued bi-annual and quarterly environmental monitoring allows continued comparative analysis of baseline data.
Annual Environmental Bulletins detail survey results and updates.
The Port of Dover has established a port wide recycling campaign with recycling stations located at the Eastern Docks, Western Docks and Harbour House. Energy campaigns are coordinated throughout the Port which focuses on reducing energy consumption and being environmentally aware.
