The following study was produced as a research document by James Morris, who at the time was an officer of the Transport Security Department of the DfT.

The study is very useful in detailing the history of British Ports police in parallel to their colleagues in Home Office forces and gives a good flavour of the value which Ports police add to their respective Port Authorities.
