A-Z of the cruise port
There’s no need to worry about carrying your own suitcases. Experienced porters will meet you with baggage trolleys to help with your luggage both on embarkation and disembarkation.
You will leave the Port via the Baggage Hall after identifying and reclaiming your luggage. Friends and relatives can meet you once you have passed through this area.
Bureau De Change
A currency exchange service operates in both cruise terminals for all ports of call and selected turnaround cruises.
A telephone for Enterprise Can be found in both Dover Cruise Terminal 1 and Dover Cruise Terminal 2. Additionally, AVIS and Budget cars can be hired from their desk in the Passenger Terminal.
You will find stylish cafés located in the departure lounge of both terminals serving drinks and light refreshments. This service is operated by Riverside Catering Services.
On arrival at your Cruise Terminal, the following procedure will take place:
- A porter will take your luggage and send it to the ship for you after it has completed security checks (please keep hold of any hand luggage)
- You will then proceed to check-in with your Cruise Operator
- Once checked-in please wait in the departure lounge until your Cruise Operator announces they are ready for you to embark
- Before boarding the ship there are security checks equipped with a metal detecting archway and an X-ray machine.
- Male and female search officers will be in attendance
- From there it’s a short walk to the ship.
At the Port of Dover every effort is made to ensure cruise customers with special needs have a pleasurable and hassle-free experience. We provide:
- Easy access car park
- Wheelchair ramps and walkways (trained staff to assist)
- Washrooms with disabled facilities
- Lifts to all floors
Tipping is at your own discretion.
There is no left luggage facility provided at the Cruise Port for security reasons.

There will be a small handling fee for the return of lost items.
A large number of Dover Cruise Terminal staff and all members of the Port of Dover Police are trained in First Aid. Please ask if assistance is required.
Mother & Baby Rooms
These are located on the first floors of Dover Cruise Terminals 1 and 2.
A post-box is situated in the departure lounges of Dover Cruise Terminals 1 and 2. Stamps are available to purchase from the café.
All ships visitors should report to the Reception Desk, situated directly inside the entrance to each of the cruise terminals. Cruise passengers should proceed to check-in on the first floor of the terminals. However staff at the Reception Desk are available to help should you have any queries.
Both terminals are designated ‘No Smoking’.
Pay telephones can be found in the public areas of both terminals.
