29th July 2022 - Press Release

One Week to go to the 2022 Port of Dover Regatta!

It's nearly here! With just one week to go, excitement is building towards the return of the Port of Dover Regatta. With the weather looking good, we can't wait to welcome you for a day of seaside family fun!

From 10am to 6pm, the Regatta will offer a vast array of activities, demonstrations and performers as well as plenty of food and drink stalls to tantalise your tastebuds along the Promenade, the Pier and the Marina Curve.

On arrival, head to the Visitor Welcome Desk to find out key event information and enter the charity raffle - our charity partners, the RNLI and Dover Foodbank, will be the worthy beneficiaries of funds raised throughout the day.

Once on to the Promenade and Waterloo Crescent, visitors can take part in numerous classic fairground games, from Hoopla and a Coconut Shy to ‘Hook A Duck’ and ‘Roll A Coin’ games.

Then heading to the New Marina Pier, stop off at the Port of Dover and event sponsor stands and visit the various market stalls.

You will probably be able to hear the music stage on the Marina Curve, enticing you across to a host of performances throughout the day from a variety of great local musicians. You might even spot a real-life mermaid!

If you want a bit of competition between friends and family, we’ll have a Crazy Golf course on offer here too.

It would not be a complete regatta without activities on the water. The competitive spirit continues with the Community Raft Race in the morning and a special Royal Cinque Port Commodores Cup Yacht Race in the afternoon, as part of the 150 year celebrations of the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club.

There will also be a Hovercraft Display at lunchtime and displays being held in the afternoon by the RNLI and Port of Dover.

To help plan your day out, there is now an Event Map for you to view on the Destination Dover website here.

After two years of pandemic restrictions, the Port of Dover, together with events partner Destination Dover, is delighted to see the return of the Regatta.

We can’t wait to see you and hope you have a great time!

Notes to Editors

The Port of Dover is the UK's busiest international ferry port, handling more lorries than all other UK ports put together through an unrivalled and fluid operation capable of facilitating 120 ferry movements and 110 miles of freight per day. £144bn worth of UK trade and 33% of all trade with the EU is handled by the Port of Dover.

Dover is also the UK’s second busiest cruise port, has a marina and property business primed to benefit from a new waterfront and a busy cargo business handling fresh produce, containers, project cargo, general cargo and grain operating from a state-of-the-art terminal.

The Port of Dover holds ambitious net zero targets, placing it at the vanguard of decarbonisation within the UK ports industry. More information on these can be read here.
