Port launches events partnership with Destination Dover to bring waterfront alive in 2022

The Port of Dover and Destination Dover, the local partnership organisation that promotes Dover as a destination, have signed a new and exciting partnership agreement designed to reignite and grow a quality events programme on the port estate in 2022.

Christian Pryce, Head of Strategy and Corporate Planning at the Port of Dover, said: “After almost two years of pandemic challenges, we are really excited to be working together with Destination Dover on creating an events strategy that will, Covid-willing, not only see some of the popular public events returning, but also aim to attract some new ones too as we look to bring our fantastic waterfront alive by working with a range of partners.”

Destination Dover is well-placed to help the Port deliver a new era of community collaboration that will support the development of Dover by creating a ‘go-to’ venue for the local community and visitors alike, whilst working as necessary to ensure all activities are enjoyed within the Covid-safe parameters at the time.

Diederik Smet, Destination Manager at Destination Dover, said: “We are delighted with the partnership as it's been Destination Dover's aspiration to work closely together to make Dover the destination in Kent for visitors and the local community. We look forward to working with a range of partners to make this a reality.”

To begin the process of creating the events strategy, a survey will be undertaken in order to input local views on developing the way forward.

Views and ideas can be fed in here. The closing date is Monday 10th January 2022.

Destination Dover is a partnership of organisations, companies and individuals which has been formed with the purpose of promoting Dover as a destination in order to improve the economy of Dover town for the benefit of the people, visitors and businesses of Dover. Members include Dover Big Local, Dover Town Council, Dover District Council, English Heritage, National Trust, White Cliffs Tourism Association, Dover Harbour Board, St James, Love Dover, DFDS Seaways, P&O Ferries, Southeastern and Dover Marina-Best Western Hotel.
