4th June 2015 - Press Release

Port of Dover re-accredited for quality

High quality service and standards at the Port of Dover have once again been acknowledged with the Port being re-accredited with the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2008 standard for its Quality Management System.

The Port of Dover was commended for its traffic management, pilotage, mooring, cargo handling, security and freight operations connected with the Port’s ferry, cruise and recreational activities, as well as for its land-based management of property and operations.

ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and can be used by any organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activity.  ISO 9001:2008 is implemented by over one million companies and organisations in over 170 countries.

This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and leadership of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.

Chief Executive of the Port of Dover, Tim Waggott, is delighted with yet another recognition of the Port’s continuing high quality performance.

“This re-accreditation shows how seriously we take the management of such an important international gateway. It shows we have a strong management team, a dedicated local workforce and the commitment to making Dover the best port in the world. With a clear and shared vision, such recognition shows that we have the team to keep Dover, the Port and the UK economy moving.”

Issued by Corporate Affairs on 01304 240400 (ext. 4410 from 8.30 – 17.00)
