5th July 2022 - Press Release

RNLI and Dover Food Bank Announced as Charity Partners for the Dover Community Regatta

The Port of Dover is pleased to announce Dover Food Bank and the RNLI as the Regatta's charity partners for 2022. Due to be held on 6th August for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic, the two chosen charities will be beneficiaries of funds raised throughout the day.

This year’s Port of Dover Regatta will bring together a mix of both shoreside and waterside entertainment, providing fun for all ages across the community. Excess funds raised during the Regatta will be split equally between the two charities.

The RNLI and Dover Food Bank will also each have a stand on the Marine Parade to spread awareness of the valuable work they do within the community.

Doug Bannister, Chief Executive of the Port of Dover, said:

“The Port of Dover is thrilled to be bringing the community back together via the Dover Regatta this August after three years of COVID restrictions. We are also delighted to use the Regatta to showcase the work the important work the RNLI and Dover Food Bank do for the community and to raise money for them throughout the day.

We hope to see you down at the Seafront!”

Responding to the announcement, Dover Food Bank said:

“Dover Food Bank would like to thank the Port of Dover for supporting us as one of their chosen charities for this year’s Regatta. We are truly grateful and appreciate the support at such a crucial time.”

The RNLI added,

"Being one of the two chosen charities supported by the Dover Regatta, alongside the Dover Food Bank, the RNLI Dover Lifeboat Station is proud to be recognised for the great work our volunteers do in Saving Lives at Sea.

Every penny raised will go towards helping to provide our crews with the very best of safety equipment and clothing to make the valuable work that they do as safe as possible."

More information on the Port of Dover Regatta can be accessed on the Destination Dover page here.
