CARGO Facilities

Port of Dover Cargo specialises in the handling, storage and freight forwarding of temperature controlled commodities. Dover Cargo Terminal is ideally situated for fast shipments of perishable goods by both sea and road.

Lying at the closest geographical point to the European continent and close to all of the Channel's main shipping lanes, Dover Cargo Terminal offers minimum deviation for reefer ships and fast onward journeys to all other parts of Europe.

Dover is also directly connected to the M2 and M20 motorways which inter-connect to the M25 London orbital route, giving fast and smooth access to central London as well as all other parts of the UK.

Dover Cargo Terminal offers a wide range of facilities including 24-hour access, no locks or tidal restrictions and a minimum quay water depth of 8.5 metres. As a result, vessels can berth at any time - day or night - taking as little as 40 minutes.

Dover Cargo Terminal is also ISO 9001 accredited and offers the following facilities which ensure fast, efficient and flexible turnarounds:

Delivering & Collecting containers

If you are a regular visitor to the Port you may apply for a permanent pass (photo identification required). Application forms can be obtained from the Port Reception in the Passenger Terminal located at Dover Ferry Terminal (Eastern Docks).

Temporary single visit passes can be obtained from West Gate where you will need to produce a passport, European ID card or photo driving licence.

Follow the freight vehicle route into the terminal, then follow the signs to Dover Cargo Terminal.

After passing through East Gate security, to enter the UTP and Container Terminal, you must use your Dock Pass.
